Sarcoma Treatment Center

The Center for Sarcoma and Bone Oncology provides expert multidisciplinary evaluation and treatment for patients with bone and soft tissue tumors. The Center – which provides a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic services for more than 1,650 new cases annually – has been one of the leading hospitals in Massachusetts for sarcoma and bone oncology inpatient discharges for the past five years.
Sarcoma patients, who often require a combination of surgery, chemotherapy and radiation therapy, benefit from the Program's team approach to managing their disease. Multi-modality care is coordinated among a team of health care professionals that includes medical, surgical, radiation, orthopaedic, and psychosocial oncologists; pathologists, radiologists; and other specialists as needed.
Members of the Sarcoma Program have been at the forefront of developing advanced diagnostic tools and techniques as well as innovative medical, surgical, and radiation therapies. For example, medical oncologists at the Center pioneered the groundbreaking research that changed the standard of care for patients with GIST. The team continues to be actively involved in research to develop advanced and targeted therapies for patients with bone and soft tissue tumors.
